My landlord just threaten that he would show up and toss our stuff out.

Under the laws of all states in this country it is illegal for one's landlord to discrad a tenant's belongings after the lease is up absent a court order allowing such. If your belongings have been taken improperly by the landlord I suggest that you consult with a landlord tenant attorney for help.
