Can a health insurance company deny payment on bills they had already authorized?

Can a health insurance company deny payment on bills they had already authorized?

This was done after we and the insurance found out my wife had insurance.  What I need to know is can they do this, and is there anything I can do to stop the bills from the doctors and hospitals from coming to us?

I don't understand.  What does your wife having insurance have anything to do with you? There is a huge chunk of the story missing, which is most likely the chunk we all need to determine what righs you may or may not have.  Did the insurance company give you a letter of approval and did the approval have conditions on it (say as long as your wife doesn't have insurance or other evidence of insurance)?

Not sure what double coverage would have done other than perhaps split the cost?

If you have issues and think your insurance company just committed bad faith, try and also file a complaint with the Massachusetts Dept of Insurance.
