Can a former landlord file an eviction after a new landlord’s escrow has closed?

I’m current with my landlord but didn’t pay a rent to a former landlord. Former landlord filed an eviction. But he is no longer the landlord? Is that possible?

No, if he is no longer the owner of the building, he cannot evict you. Only the owner (or the owner's agent, property manager, etc.) can evict. You could be sued by the former landlord for any rent you owed him, or for any damages you did to the rental unit for which he had to pay to repair.
