Under the laws of all states in this country, if an employee has accrued vacation time, the employer can set a mandate that the employee has to use the vacation time or lose it within a stated time period. Such a requirement is allowable. Likewise, if an employee is terminated with accrued unsused vacation time remaining, the employer is required to pay the terminated employee the value of this unused vacation time.
