Under the laws of all states in this country, a licensed auto shop is required to have a written estimate signed by its customer before any work on a particular vehicle is started setting the initial charge.
If such written estimate is not signed by the customer before actual work on his or her car is started, then the body shop has a hard time validating the charge for work done on the vehicle. it is incumbent upon the body shop to get the written estimate signed by the customer before work begins on the vehicle.
