By law do we have to replace airbags that were deployed in auto accident?

These are very costly. The car was fine otherwise.

In California, functional air bags are required in all cars equipped for such safety mechanism. If your vehicle had air bags within it when the accident occurred and they were deployed, you are required to have new air bags installed in the vehicle as a matter of state law for safety reasons.

I realize that they are expensive to place back into the vehicle once deployed, but if they are not in the vehicle the next time there is an accident involving it, you and the passenger in the front seat will not have the required protection and the result could be a sad ending.

If you had a policy of insurance for the vehicle where the air bags deployed, possibly your insurance carrier would pay the cost for the installation of the new safety protection in your vehicle.

Good luck.
