If I’m being sued by the city to either demolish or remodel my house after a fire but if I can’t afford to, what do I need to do?

My house is being foreclosed upon. The city wants something done within the next 2 months. I’m in the process of filing bankruptcy but it’s not yet filed.

If you cannot afford to demolish or remodel your fire dmamaged home which is in foreclosure and the city where you are located has filed suit against you to rectify the hazardous condition of your home, I suggest that you consult with a real estate attorney experienced in bankruptcy law to contact to municipality about your situation.

Once you file for bankruptcy protection, the lawsuit against you by the city will be placed on hold under federal bankruptcy law.

You should also consult with the lender on the home about your situation as well as any insurance carrier that may have issued a policy of insurance regarding it.
