I work for walmart in texas and this
week out of the blue started asking to
see receipts for purchases as you exit
. They had not been doing this before
until this week 11-15-16.They ONLY
stop and ask employees. Is this leagle
for them to do. And can I refuse.

Yes, an employer has the right to secure its facility against theft and the like. Therefore, such checks as you describe are perfectly permissable so long as no form of legally actionable discrimination or retaliation is the reason for workers' treatment. Also, such a policy must not breach the terms of any union agreement or employment contract. Otherwise, the fact is that an employer can set the conditions of the workplace much as it sees fit.
