Are property taxes considered household expenses?

IRS guidelines seem to indicate this to be true. Language in the decree only states that petitioner is responsible mortgage and household expenses. This is more of a definition of household expenses and would the court redefine it differently than the guidelines defined by the IRS.

Property taxes are allowable deductions under state and federal tax laws. With respect to your dissolution action concerning your marriage, if the petitioner is responsible for the mortgage and household expenses, the property taxes and insurance for the home seem to be part of the household expenses under IRS guidelines. Such a conclusion is even more compelling especially if the petitioner is paying the mortgage where sometimes the property taxes and insurance are part of the monthly impound account on a mortgage.
