As a general rule, an expired registration does not invalidate an insurance policy. Accordingly, you had coverage at the time of the accident .

As long as your insurance is in effect you are covered for the accident assuming that you have ample coverage. The fact that your vehicle registration expired does not negate your insurance or determine liability for an accident whether or not you were at fault.
