After receiving my written request for any balance due to my dentist, how long does he have to respond?

We’ve always paid dental bills for services before they were fulfilled however this dental office is notorious for inventing charges later. I’ve already asked verbally for any balance due and was told I’d get my info in 2 weeks but it’s been over a month and nothing. How long does he legally have to answer my question?

It is unclear that there are any clear cut statutes that give him a time limit to respond. A reasonable amount of time is generally what would be relied upon.  If you have given him 30 days plus then you have been reasonable I believe.  Bt why, may I ask, are you asking now?  WHat would you do?  You would have to wait until he did something - like sue you for the money - to fight this in court.  You would not bring an action against him to reduce the bill.  And if he does not respond then you can continue to hound him or report him to the state licensing department.  Good luck.
