If I was convicted of aggravated assault but pardoned, must I disclose this on job applications?

I’ve had no other brushes with the law. I was sentenced to 3 years probation but was released early and then pardoned. Do I have to state that I was convicted on job applications? This happened 29 years ago.

If the questions asks simply for whether you were ever convicted, then to answer it truthfully, you would have to reply "yes"--being pardoned does not mean that the conviction never occured or expunge it from the public record. There is no reason you cannot include mitigating details such as those in your question; i.e. that it was the only conviction, 29 years ago, that you only received probation, that you were released early, and that you were pardoned.
