It seems unusual that the insurance company is denying coverage for the skylight since they are paying to replace the roof, vents, drip edges, etc. While the skylight may not be covered for wind damage, failure to replace it could cause another loss if it leaks and damages the inside of the home. You should talk to your agent and/or look at the insurance policy to see where there is an exclusion for wind to the skylight. It must be clearly stated in the policy for them to be able to deny coverage. If you can’t find any such exclusion, call the adjuster back. If they refuse to work with you, ask for a supervisor to see if they will be more cooperative. You might also ask your roofer to write a letter stating that they feel the skylight should be replaced as they don’t want to be responsible for damaging the skylight.
