Company History: The Farmers Home Mutual Hail, Tornado, and Cyclone Insurance Company of Seymour, Wisconsin was founded in 1899 by 135 charter members after a cyclone destroyed much of New Richmond. In 1986 the company changed its name to SECURA Insurance and relocated to Appleton, Wisconsin. SECURA currently employs approximately 500 people.

The fairness of our settlement was fine, but our claim wasn’t handled in a timely manner, and our adjustor gave the impression of being adverse to working on our claim. We felt that it was dragged out.

We’ve had two claims and our adjuster called us within hours of making the claims. He was thorough and very helpful.

Anytime I disagree with the adjustors suggestions to accept a reduction in my dectible instead of replacing an item, he slows down the repair process. It took them over 30 hours to repond to my call my major wind damage to my home. They have not been forthcoming as to what my policy legitamatly provides me. I feel as though I need an attorney as a liason between them and me.

1998 letters from Secura told me I needed to replace my roof because of black spots. Roofing contractors said roof was sound – just mildew/mold on shingles. 2007 letters from Secura told me I had cracks in my driveway and that I needed to fix it. Changed companies that year

Dragged out claim, said it was covered, then when they found out the extent of the damage, turned around and denied it. Horrible customer service, went through several adjusters, who were not upfront or honest. Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

I was covered by them for one month after they denied me due to a ticket I was in court fighting and winning on. I had pre-paid the 6month coverage before being notified that they couldnt cover me. They still went ahead and cash the check months later and I havent received the balance back yet. I am currently looking to file a claim against them.

I felt that the rates were way out of line. I was able to get the same coverage with AAA for 1300 less a year. They did things that would jack up their rates like place our youngest driver on the most expensive car to insure. I spent time on the phone and filled out questionnaires and they did what they wanted to do so it benefitted them. Goodbye Secura.

Postdated a check i sent to them in order to avoid a late payment. They cashed the check three days early causing me to miss my mortgage payment my truck payment and my cable bill. This is probably my fault but when i called to speak with someone the girl was very rude and did not want to let me speak with anyone about the situation or try to help me herself. Not to mention the 75 of other customers that are unsatisfied in some way.

Had a very bad wind storm come through 100 ft maple tree feel on top of house they told me to call a tree company to get it off the roof and patch it waited a week to get an adjustor out even longer to get a quote adjustor said one thing to the repair guy about coverage but changed his story once he sent out how much we were to get. Refused to up it refused to cover the side of the house where our shingles were curled from wind. Placed a claim on car took it in 1 week later scheduled appt got check taken care of. The other time I called to use roadside after their hours while im stranded middle of winter with no cell service walk to get service and they tell me they have no records after hours to get a tow pay for it and IF only IF I have that will they reimburse me Now I never got a bill since last month was a double payment and they send me a notice cancelling my policy no chance of renewal. Ridiculous Too much stress with them.

Make sure you know your policy and you trust your agent they will try to screw you on every claim when they get around to it. Still waiting for things to get donefrom almost 3 months ago they applied a ridiculously low claim amount to fit the repair we will see how that works out.

My family has Replacement cost home owners insurance with Secura. Our loss due to a fire forced us to take our queen anne home down to the studs. We have been out of our home since July and with Securas help all the way will be back in in June.I could write a book discribing the empathy and class we have enjoyed from this company. thank you

Home was built 14 years ago…The roof has shingles that are no longer manufactoredobsolete. I have hail and wind damage on the south side and not the north side. The adjuster came out and said they will pay for the bad side and I will have to pay for the other side because our state law states they only are required to pay what is damaged. And you wonder why the homes with mis-matched roofs.so much for them taking care of the paying customer.Will not renew this policy which come due soon.

Adjuster did not get on my roof to inspect. Contractor found hail damage. Refused to come back to inspect. Now I have drywall damage inside from leaks in roof. Still refusing to cover roof Adjuster gave us 130 total for labor to replace siding on 2800 sq ft home- yea right Hate this company

Rates keep going up service is nothing like it used to be and you have to beg for five months to get a check cut for less than 1000 on an obviously covered auto claim. So long Secura.

We had a small fire in a small fireplace in our den within a day we had a adjuster onsite and the next day we were starting to get things cleaned up unbelievable the fast service.Thanks alot

GAP coverage was automatically included with my policy. When my car crash occurred I was nervous but my agent and the adjusters jumped at the opportunity to help me. My claim was handled quickly and they have won my loyalty.

This company embodies the adage "Raise the premium deny the claim". We filed a claim against our insurance and they took every measure including engineers lawyers and paralegals to decide they only wanted to honor our premiums. We are switching to a company that is more enlightened.

the claim agent for our home/property damage was great to work with and very easy to contact. He was very responsive the entire time.The agent for our vehicle loss was OK – not as good as the other rep but reasonable.

Hail damage with holes in siding. Adjustor ok claims to west side of home and garage one window north side of house and one window south side of house. Total roofing on house and garage. If north and south windows damage would not the siding as well??? Adjustor than asked if I had contractor if not he has a friend. Sounds….

Secura – is an Insurance Co that serves its customers. I have always driven my vehicle within all limits. I was in an auto accident at the age of 15 it was an upperclassman who was driving us to a school picnic. I received a broken collar bone and was unconscious in Iowa Methodist Hospital for 4 full days. needless to say the family was quite worried. Although this has been over 50 years since the incident. I remember it thoroughly. My only hope and prayer after the accident was that I did not want to die in a car. The accident I was just in is the first in those 50 years I was terrified during and after the occurrence and still am two weeks later. Thank god no one was hurt. We have been customers with Secura for I believe the last 12-15 years their service has always been responsible with compassion. I can not say enough about the service we received during the entire process. It may not mean much to most people but I have always taken pride in the way our vehicles have been taken care of the vehicle in the accident was no exception. I always buy a vehicle for lifebut as we all know nothing lasts forever. I have never complained about the cost of our insurance premiums over the year because I knew the family was in good hands in the event we were faced with a tragedy. I cannot say enough about the service and all employees have a sense of responsibility we have been treated fairly in all aspects of the incident. We hope that our relationship may continue.

An awful company from start to finish. Wish I’d have read the reviews before I had a policy with them. Rates continue to go up even though we’ve had no losses or claims. Who are we paying for?

Our rep has gone above and beyond to help us when our building caught on fire. He helped in every way possible. There has been no fighting for what was lost and what needs replaced. There has been very few items we have had to negotiate on. They have been fabulous in this extremely hard time for my company. Our building was pretty much a total loss.

Have had several claims with this company tree hitting the houserefrigerator going on the fritz while we were gone over weekend and the latest hitting a deer and totaling out my car. They have been great to work with and took care of all the claims really quick am very happy with my insurance company and the adjusters I have spoken with they made everything PAIN FREE. Would recommend Secura to anyone looking for insurance good to know you have people that are easy to work with when you have something bad happen. Thank You for the outstanding service.

We had to file an auto claim recently and the whole experience was fantastic. Secura was extremely fast in all aspects of the claim. Getting us a rental a repair quote and a fair offer. Our car was a total loss the payment I thought was very fair. They allowed us to keep the rental for an extra week to help find a different car. People always wonder how their insurance company will be in a claim we are glad to say fantastic.

Adjustor was terrible. She did not follow through with what they promised. She also went out of her way to hire a friend who over-charged and under-preformed when doing my repairs. Overall very unsatisfied.

We were strung along for weeks when filing a claim. At first the adjuster assumed damage was minimal told me not to worry he would stop over and help us through the process etc. Then the questions started we could tell they were figuring out a way to get out of it. I have paid thousands of dollars over a few decades. Now they’ve decided to pay nothing.

I recommend Secura for their professionalism and customer service. I had an emergency on the freeway and my car was in the shop for a month and the complete service I received from start to finish was smooth. Even the BMW repair shop said it was the best insurance company they had ever worked with.

We have been waiting 8 months and counting to get a fair settlement on our house that was struck by a tornado that hit 8-7-2013.Secura never looked at my actual estimates they paid on what they thought it should cost. Very unprofessional and rude. Will not answer any questions. Forces everything down your throat. Paid insurance for 20 plus years had one claim and this is how you get treated.

Very unprofessional and will never give you a straight answer. Tornado in there mind is wind damage. Will not replace/repair to like quality and condition. You could get all the estimates that you want they pay you according to the insurance estimator even if it cost you more. All final decisions are made by Secura and crammed down your throat without you having a say. Secura plays with your head so you accept anything they give you.

I did the right thing and cancelled my policy. They kept my last payment kept my deposit and sent me a bill 2 months later for 950 more. They are now turning me into a collection agency. Run don’t walk away from these bloodsuckers.

My car was hit and totaled while at a stop light. No loaner was offered. The adjuster was REALLY evasive and ended up sending me 1500 less that what I THOUGHT we had agreed on. They already had the car by the time I got the check.If it wasn’t for my agent I would never renew my policies.

I was injured when a cart boy hit me with 8 carts as I was getting a cart in the food store foyer. After I reported the accident to the store manager Secura Insurace contacted me immediately. My claim and settlement was handled and processed quickly and efficiently. I am grateful for all their help.

I assist my father-in-law with his finances. He had an accident that totalled out his car and the SECURA claim adjusters we worked with were very professional and took great care and patience in explaining what was needed to complete the process in a timely manner. Secura claims represented moved very quickly at every important stage of the unfolding of the claim set up appointments interviews inspections communications with myself and prompt notice of the releasing of our company from the claimants loss with respect to any liability on our part and done so with professionalism and business like persistence. When you cancel with these guys they will charge you for canceling. Just don’t make your last payment and they will cancel you and you can save about 1000.

After over 50 years driving and 40 years as homeowners we can assure you Secura has been the best company we have ever worked with. We recently had an vehicle damage claim and it was taken care of within three days. They are extremely helpful and understanding and go beyond what other insurance companies do.

SECURA’s independent adjuster flat out lied and claimed that the company we contacted to fix our RV had agreed to drop his labor hours by 23 from 51 hours and price on parts by 750.43 was 2,500.43. When I contacted the gentleman who provided me the estimate he told me he had the email proof that he does not agree to their terms or amounts, yet SECURA stood by the fact that they agreed. WORSE off … our agent was siding with SECURA. Yes, the agent we pay and hired SAD, SAD, SAD We will be looking for new insurance with a new agent as soon as this is wrapped up

My primary contact during the course of the claim was with the adjuster.He was very patient and thorough, as well as available during this entire process follow up by the company was fast and complete. For the amount of damage, this was the easiest part of the repair process.

If you are affected by someone with Secura insurance, get an attorney from the beginning. The very beginning. They attempt to take advantage of you from the very beginning, when you are the most vulnerable. Their tactics are aggressive and not very ethical. If you have to deal with them….save yourself a lot of trouble and get an attorney right from the beginning.
