Homeowner insurance provides coverage for damages to your home and personal property for sudden and accidental damage. Pipes or equipment outside of the home is not covered by the insurance policy since it is separate from the home. If there is damage to the home itself due to the pipe damage, then there may be coverage for that damage. Any deductible you have on the homeowner policy will apply to that damage. The propane loss is also not considered sudden and accidental since it has been going on for a period of time, and it will not be considered personal property, so the loss of propane is also excluded from the policy. This type of loss is considered a maintenance issue, and homeowner insurance is not intended to address any maintenance issue. You should contact your supplier of propane to see if they will allow a credit due to the loss by leakage. They may be willing to assist you in this situation.
