If your auto insurance is being cancelled due to claims, it may not be easy to find replacement coverage immediately. I would recommend you pay the installment due on your existing policy since this will give you additional time to find replacement insurance. Many insurance companies will not write auto insurance if you have been cancelled or non renewed by another company, or if you have excessive claims. You may need to find a specialty insurance company that insures drivers who have claims or ticket issues. Sometimes a higher deductible may be required to help defray any future claims. You can contact a local independent agent who represents several insurance companies, including those who will write high risk policies. You can also find some of the companies on the internet but you need to be sure you understand the limitations of the policy. That is why it may be better to speak to an agent who can explain all options you may have and the differences between some of the companies.
