I need to know how long State farm has been giving Homweoners Discount for Auto Insurance Policy holders? I have been told by someone in State farm that they only have been giving Homewoners Discount for about 2 years now. I don't think state farm wants to credit my premiums because I have been with them for 14 years and just found out they did NOT service my policy properly with my homeowners for the entire 14 years. They only want to refund me for 2 years, claiming that they just started that discount 2 years ago.

Discounts by insurance companies can vary by states. While the insurance company may have been giving discounts in one state for a long time, that does not mean they have been giving the discounts in other states. Each insurance company must file their rates with the state, including the discounts for having the home and auto insurance with them.Your agent, presuming he wrote the home and auto insurance, should have made sure that you were receiving the appropriate discounts if they were available. If you had the insurance for your auto with one agent and the home with another agent, it may have been difficult for the agents and company to determine that you qualified for the discounts. If the insurance was with one agent, then they should have made sure the discounts were applied. If they weren’t then you should discuss this with the insurance company and explain the discounts were overlooked by the agent, through no fault of your own, and ask them to go back as far as the discounts should have been applied.
