Insurance Question from Saint Louis, MO

Asked on 07/11/2011

how can I get justice for my insured vehicle which was stolen and burned and Progressive refuses to pay? My car was stolen and burned beyond recognition. Progressive requested my bank statements, taxes, phone records, and an exam under oath. After providing this info, they still refused to compensate although my premiums were always on time and insurance paymnts were up to date. I had no money for an attorney therefore they have denied my claim. I have been on public transportation and been depressed totally. I need help and the best way to fight this. I am suffering all the way around while Progressive clears $14.1 Billion yearly. Please help.

It seems odd that Progressive is not willing to pay for the loss of your car due to theft and fire. You need to be sure you have done everything they have asked of you, including filing a police report and assist the company as requested. You should contact your agent to see if they can help you determine the problem with Progressive. If you don’t have an agent, you should ask to speak to a supervisor in the claims department and ask them to explain why they are denying coverage. I don’t want to speculate on what they are thinking, so a conversation should help you. If they still refuse to pay the claim, and will not explain why, you should contact the Dept of Insurance in your state. They will investigate the situation and may be able to help you resolve this issue. They do not charge you to do this, so it will not cost you anything.
