Horace Mann is profiting from Customers due to Guidewire

I have had Horace Mann for many years and absolutely love the company. However, they switched to Guidewire about a year ago and I have had nothing but problems with them. They last issue included an agent removing a car from my policy, and because I only had one car my rate shot up. I questioned it several times, and when I went to have it fixed discovered that my educator discount was removed from February-September. When they went to fix it,...
I have had Horace Mann for many years and absolutely love the company. However, they switched to Guidewire about a year ago and I have had nothing but problems with them. They last issue included an agent removing a car from my policy, and because I only had one car my rate shot up. I questioned it several times, and when I went to have it fixed discovered that my educator discount was removed from February-September. When they went to fix it, I was told that Guidewire wouldn't allow it so they cancelled my policy. I was owed about $50 before, and now owe over $1,000. Managers will not return my calls, and they do not value long term customers. This is extremely frustrating, and my understanding is that Guidewire will not be rolled out into other state due to the technical errors of Guidewire. Owning my own business, I know that Horace Mann can make this right, but just don't care to be honest.

Total loss claim

This company is a joke!!!! My wife got rearend by one of your customer and total loss her car and they have gave us so much run around no call backs very poor customer service no communication on what to do we have had to just keep calling and dragging any answers we can get!!! This place really really sucks wouldn't recommend getting insurance through this place at all

No customer loyalty. I've been an auto insurance customer of Horace Manns for over 5 years. Missed a bi annual payment and because of that my rates went up over 400$ per 6 months.

Never Reached out

The total loss claim adjuster was no very helpful. I basically had to do all the work. I spoke with her on (Oct.12) and she said she was still waiting for the paperwork so she could issue the check. I called my lender on Friday(oct. 14) asking if they sent the paperwork and they said they faxed it on Oct.11. Once I called the manger (whom was very helpful) he monitored the situation. I finally got an email Friday night saying my check has be...

The roadside assistance vendor is horrible

First time in over 5 years I have had to use insurance. I called the Horace man number for roadside assistance and I've been waiting 5 hours so far for a tow truck. The roadside assistance coverage is for a $115 that covers about half of a tow in minneapolis. I recommend that you consider other companies because this one is pretty expensive for low quality service.

Customer Service Phone Line Not Helpful

The customer service phone line is in no way helpful. I got ahold of a customer service rep about a question I had with my renter's insurance policy (pretty simple question). The phone went silent after a few minutes of them looking into something for me, and then the phone call cut off. I called again, got a different agent, they also took a few moments to look into something, and then out of nowhere (after my rep had went silent for about a min...

The phone went silent after a few minutes of them looking into something for me, and then the phone call cut off. I called again, got a different agent, they also took a few moments to look into something, and then out of nowhere (after my rep had went silent for about a minute), I get transferred to my policy agent (neither he or myself received warning that I was being transferred). The reps need better training on how to communicate with customers, and how to look into issues without "accidentally" hanging up or transferring you without warning.

Claims Rep needs better customer service training!

We have been with Horace Mann for over 15 years. We recently had an auto claim. Took a month to resolve everything. The claim was due to theft. It was difficult to get a hold of the claims rep, who he does not do well with returning calls. When it's all set and done he said we came out winning! Excuse me! Expandable deductables and delinquint paperwork.

My experience with your company went south when the adjuster became involved. He was very hard to contact, offered little information and did his best to ignore my rather small claim. Our agent needed to get involved just to get him to respond to our questions and needs. Once we cornered him into a conversation he was unhelpful and seeminly vindictive towards me, looking for every way posible to charge me more and make my experience worse. He...
My experience with your company went south when the adjuster became involved. He was very hard to contact, offered little information and did his best to ignore my rather small claim. Our agent needed to get involved just to get him to respond to our questions and needs. Once we cornered him into a conversation he was unhelpful and seeminly vindictive towards me, looking for every way posible to charge me more and make my experience worse. He towed my vehicle to a shop 60 minutes from my house, was unavailable everytime I called, and made me pay for parts that were damaged- on top of my deductable. I'm very dissatisfied with my experience, and now worried about my other vehicles and home as they are insured here also. I expect this philosophy of skimp and save is company wide and / or rewarded in some twisted way. Also, we have even been contacted by our mortgage provider for payment on our home insurance as Horace Mann was tardy with the bill to them. Im not even sure how you can screw this up as it has been the same for over a year now. Having said this, I need to point on that our agent has been very helpful. In fact without her I would have received zero information from the "adjuster".

Horrible customer service

In early July of 2021 I received a fine for lapsed auto insurance from the Georgia DMV. I immediately called customer service as my last two agents were no longer working this area and there was no new agent. The representative said the policy had never lapsed and would send a VIN verification that would take care of the fine. Two weeks later, two VIN verifications later and six different reps later, with the fine still there, I found out that on...
In early July of 2021 I received a fine for lapsed auto insurance from the Georgia DMV. I immediately called customer service as my last two agents were no longer working this area and there was no new agent. The representative said the policy had never lapsed and would send a VIN verification that would take care of the fine. Two weeks later, two VIN verifications later and six different reps later, with the fine still there, I found out that one verification was sent to North Carolina and the first one cannot be found. I live in Georgia and every time I speak to a rep I have to verify my address. A customer service manager could not explain why it had been reported lapsed or why the verification was sent to the wrong state or where the first one even went. I received a half sincere apology. Two weeks later and some six reps later they supposedly sent the VIN verification to the right state. I have to wait a few days and see if it goes thru. I have wasted a few hours of my time dealing with something that is clearly Horace Mann’s fault. I have checked rates at other companies and while a little bit more I will seriously be considering moving due to this horrible customer service experience.

Awful company with no respect for their clients

Just an absolutely awful company to deal with. Horacemann gave their own estimate of what the dealership should pay then refused to pay the difference when the dealership came back with the final total. It ultimately cost us an extra $2000 and am being treated terribly by the agent stating that its my fault for the discrepancy and they are refusing to help since they immediately closed the claim. I have NEVER experienced anything like this fro...
Just an absolutely awful company to deal with. It ultimately cost us an extra $2000 and am being treated terribly by the agent stating that its my fault for the discrepancy and they are refusing to help since they immediately closed the claim. I have NEVER experienced anything like this from any reputable company and would highly suggest to anyone reading this to either find a new company immediately or keep looking. My parents switched about a year ago after they experienced a similar situation and couldn't be happier with their choice. This company will deceive you, do everything they can to not pay what they should, and will try and blame you for their mistakes even after they admit fault.
