Answer given on November 23, 2015

If an insurance company has authorized a rental car for you since your vehicle was totaled in an accident, they usually will provide a settlement offer before they withdraw authorization of the rental car.You did not indicate if the insurance company is your company or the other driver’s insurance company. There could be a difference in rental car coverage based on which company is paying for the rental. There are limits as to the number of days you may be covered for rental coverage. You need to read your policy or talk to your agent. If you are past the time that the rental is covered, then the company can withdraw the authorization. Also, if you are in disagreement with the company as to the value of the previous vehicle, that could be delaying the settlement. Talk to the adjuster and see if you can get additional time for the rental or ask when you will receive your settlement check.
