The homeowner insurance company does have the right to see proof that repairs were made on a home that was damaged by a covered peril. Even though you worked a deal with a contractor friend, he should have records of the work done and materials used to make the repairs. While visual inspection can be a part of confirming the work was done, the adjuster may want to be sure that all work that was needed was done. If someone cut corners to save money it could result in a future loss due to the failure to make the correct repairs at the initial loss.If the work was done properly, and the evidence of payment cn be provided then you will be reimbursed for the repairs, If you did not pay the contractor for the work, the insurance company may be willing to pay them directly. However, they may not pay you or the contractor without proof of the proper work being done.
