What to do if when i was renting a car, I grazed a pole before leaving the lot?

I had not checked this car out yet, and was not allowed to leave with the car. I could rub the mark off with my shirt and told the attendant i wanted to take the car as my husband could rub the mark out. They have sent me a claim for $371.36. Do I have to pay for this, as it happened on their lot, and i didn’t leave with the car? I signed an accident report that states it happened on their lot. I did not give insurance info but did give my personal info.

You are liable for the property damage to the rental car.  Your auto insurance policy may cover the damage to the rental car.  The rental car agency can file a claim with your auto insurance company to receive compensation for the property damage.
