If my tenant has been served a 5 day notice and we have gone to court, how can I progress the proceedings?

The tenant hired a lawyer to slow the eviction proceedings and now I am stuck with paying for them to stay for free. Is there any way to progress the proceedings?

No at this point you must go with court proceedings unless the tenants are within the exemptions to the traditional eviction process, which includes things like safety to others, drugs and the like. You need to be patient and continue with the court proceedings, includng submitting a motion to not delay proceedings. If you are concerned this lawyer is being less than ethical, then you need to consider getting an attorney yourself, working with the lawyer to negotiate a move out date and no eviction or a combination thereof. The goal being to get them out as quickly as possible.
