I would be extremely careful with this one. It can be done legally, but the more important question is, is it worth it?
You need to know what the business is worth, and what it's future looks like; how much of the business you're going to own and how much of a voice you'll have in what's done with it. How well do you know the other owners of the business? How well do they know you, and how are they going to react to your joining them?
These are just a few of the things to consider, and I don't know anything about the details of the situation. I'd suggest, really, talk to a lawyer in your area about this before you agree to anything. One place to look for an attorney who can help you with this is our website, http://attorneypages.com
