The fact is that an employer can set the terms and conditions of employment much as it sees fit or deems necessary. So unless this action violates the terms of an employment contract or union agreemnt or is contrary to company policy, it is legal. Also, your treatment must not constitute some form of legally actionable discrimination. Additionally, paid time off (including sick time) is a discretionary beneffit. In other words, a company need not provide it, therefore it has a great deal of control over when it ican be taken.
