If your home is being foreclosed and you vacate before sheriff’s sale, can they enter your home and make changes to the home?

Who is "they"? Do you mean the bank which foreclosed? Or whomever buys it at the sheriff's sale? Whomever ends up owning the home has the right to do whatever they like to do it, once they acquire it and the deed is in their name. The fact that you vacated before the sheriff's sale or tried to deed in lieu doesn't change the fact of foreclosure or the change in ownership.
